The Asbestos area is known for these mines and you can enjoy the open pit mine by heading to Black Lake (about 20 minutes from the cottage) and you can also visit the Asbestos Museum in Thetford Mines. If this is your first time in the area you will certainly be curious to see the asbestos debris that are part of the decor.

Beyond Asbestos, the region is known for its multitude of hiking trails. From the Chalet, you can head to several hikes by following one of the nearby trails, including the Mount Adstock Snowshoe Trail, the ATV Trail and the Doo Ski Run. You will also be able to reach the summit of Mont Adstock in less than 45 minutes from the chalet and have a superb view of Lake Trout, Grand Lac St-Françcois and the region. In winter, the ski slope doo passes directly on the lake. Mount Adstock at less than 15 minutes by car from the Chalet is very good for downhill skiing or cross country skiing in winter and golf in summer.
